[G8 summit] SHARP annual electricity consumption is estimated to reduce half of LCD TVs using LED backlight

At the G8 summit in Hokkaido, SHARP in Japan's Foreign Ministry set up the environmental exhibition shows a substantial reduction in power consumption of 26 inch LCD TV prototype. Compared with the company's original LCD TV (listed in 2007 LC-26GH3), the instant power consumption reduced to about 1/3, the annual electricity consumption is controlled at about 1/2. The company did not directly publish data such as power consumption, but the calculation of the power consumption of the original product as a benchmark, is expected to instant power consumption of about 40W, the annual electricity consumption of about 60kWh. Specific practical date SHARP has not announced. The power consumption of the prototype is reduced to the same amount of power as the solar cells of the same size. To this end, SHARP recommends the use of solar cells, so that you can watch TV programs without electricity. SHARP does not recommend ways to reduce power consumption. At present, as to reduce the power consumption of LCD TV, regional light (Local Dimming) technology (using direct type LED backlight, the 1 picture is divided into a plurality of regions, each image according to the brightness of the display area lit LED) in the development of increasingly active. JVC in the 2007 CEATEC Exhibition on the relevant development, it is estimated that SHARP is also using the technology.
